Glass Door Display Fridges

A display fridge is a sales fixture that happens to be cold

The job is visibility. The customer decides standing in front of the door, so shelf height, lighting and how full the cabinet looks matter as much as the compressor does. That is why these are specified differently from a storage upright. Ours run 144 L to 1,900 L, one to six doors, 390 mm to 2,584 mm wide — including slimline cabinets under 550 mm for counters with no room to give.

Where they earn their keep

Café and convenience drinks walls, bottle shops, delis and sandwich bars, service stations, staff canteens and any takeaway selling cold product over the counter. A single-door cabinet works as an impulse position beside the register; two-, three- and six-door runs become the drinks wall itself.

What glass costs you, and what to look for

Glass insulates worse than steel, so a display fridge works harder than a storage cabinet of the same size — that is the trade for being able to see in. What limits the damage is the door: double or triple glazing, a heated frame so the seal does not sweat or ice up, and a seal that can actually be replaced when it perishes. Ask about the glazing and the frame before you ask about litres; that is where the running cost is decided.

Lighting and merchandising

LED strips down the door pillars rather than one lamp in the roof keep the bottom shelves shoppable, which is where slow stock goes to die in a badly lit cabinet. Check that shelves adjust, and look at how the cabinet reads half-empty — a display fridge spends most of its life not full.
