A commercial bar fridge is not a big domestic one

The cabinets on this page are specified for trade duty: they hold temperature with the door opening every few minutes all night, they are rated for a hot bar back with poor airflow, and they carry a commercial warranty. A retail bar fridge is built for a household opening it a dozen times a day. If you are fitting out a home bar, buy the retail one — it is cheaper and it will do. If it is going behind a working bar, it needs to be this class of unit.

Back bar or under bench

A back bar cooler sits under the rear counter facing the customer, at a height that lets staff serve over the top — that is the format most pubs and clubs mean when they ask for a bar fridge, and it is what 9 of the Turbo Air cabinets here are built as. An under-bench fridge is the same footprint doing a different job: kitchen-side storage rather than customer-facing display. If that is what you need, our under bench fridges page carries that range.

Glass or solid door

25 of the 46 are glass, 16 are solid. Glass sells the product and suits anything the customer chooses by sight — bottled beer, mixers, energy drinks. Solid doors hold temperature better and cost less to run, which matters for kegs, back-of-house stock and anything that never needs to be seen. On a heated-glass model you also stop condensation on a humid night, which is worth the premium in Queensland and the Top End.

Sizing by door count

This range runs 480 mm to 2,542 mm wide and 92 L to 852 L, with the middle of it a 220 L cabinet at 1.22 m. Count doors rather than litres: 8 one-door, 11 two-door, 11 three-door and 2 four-door. Measure the bar run first, then check the door swing — sliding doors exist for exactly the case where a hinged door would foul the service side.

Bottle coolers and beverage display

A bottle cooler is the same cabinet specified for drinks: 16 of these hold 2 °C to 8 °C, which is the band bottled beer and soft drink want. If you need an upright glass cabinet rather than a low back bar one — a full-height drinks merchandiser — see glass door display fridges.

If you need it frozen

Only one cabinet here freezes. A bar-height freezer for ice, glasses or frozen product belongs on our under bench freezers page.

What we carry
