Depth is the first decision, not width
Every size in this range comes in one of two depths: 457 mm or 610 mm — 18 and 24 inches, which is where the B18 and B24 in the part numbers come from. The 610 mm bays hold noticeably more per metre of wall, but in a small room they eat the walkway: put 610 mm bays down both sides of a 1.8 m wide cool room and what is left in the middle will not take a loaded trolley. Measure the aisle you need first, then pick the depth that leaves it.
Eight widths, one height
Widths run 610, 760, 915, 1,067, 1,220, 1,372, 1,525 and 1,830 mm. Height is 1,880 mm on every bay, with four shelves as standard. Because the widths step in 6-inch increments you can usually fill a wall exactly rather than leaving a dead 300 mm gap — a 3 m wall takes 1,830 + 1,220, a 2.4 m wall takes two 1,220s. Work the wall out in bays before you order; it is cheaper than discovering the last one does not fit.
150 kg a shelf, and what that means loaded
Each shelf is rated 150 kg, so a four-tier bay carries up to 600 kg. That is comfortably more than stacked cartons of produce, and it is the number to check if you are storing drums, sacks of flour or boxed meat. Shelves sit on adjustable corner lock clips, so the tier spacing can be changed later when what you store changes — which it will.
Coated steel, in both cool rooms and freezer rooms
Shelves and posts are steel with a black plasticised coating, and the range is rated for freezer rooms as well as cool rooms — the same bays go into kitchens and supermarket back-of-house. The coating is there for the wet-and-cold cycle a cool room puts metal through: condensation on every door opening, a wash-down every week, and no chance to dry properly in between. It also wipes clean, which is why the range meets health department requirements for food storage.
Racking layout: leave the air moving
The one mistake that costs money is racking a room wall-to-wall and blocking the evaporator. A cool room holds temperature by moving air over the coil and around the stock; a solid wall of loaded shelving in front of the fan turns half the room into a warm pocket, and the compressor runs to fix a problem the racking created. Keep bays clear of the evaporator discharge, leave a gap behind the back posts, and do not stack product above the top shelf into the airflow.
