Scotsman is an ice specialist, not a general refrigeration brand

Everything Scotsman makes is ice, and that shows in how the range splits: dice (NU and NW series), gourmet (EC and MXG), flake (AF, MF and MXF) and cubelet (AFC). Each shape exists for a different job rather than a different price point.

Which shape for which job

Dice is the all-rounder for bars and restaurants — fast to make, cheap per kilo, fine in any drink. Gourmet is the clear, slow-melting cylinder for premium spirits and whisky bars. Flake is for seafood display, salad bars and medical use, where the ice has to pack around a shape. Cubelet is chewable and packs tightly — the one healthcare and drive-through venues ask for by name.

Self-contained or modular

A self-contained machine makes ice and stores it in one cabinet — simplest to install, right for most sites. A modular head sits on a separate storage bin or dispenser, which is how you get past about 150 kg a day and how you replace the head later without replacing the storage. If you are near the limit of a self-contained unit, ask us before you buy: the modular path is usually cheaper over ten years.
